10 Ways to Start Seeing the Little Things in Life.

This was my baby as a little one...she's kinda big now! :)
Practicing gratitude is a life skill. I am so thankful for all that surrounds me, and the gift of each day, but some days are kinda crazy! It's the not-enough-time-kind of days where I feel that I'm running upside-down. Some days it's all I can do to prepare a semi-healthy meal! (Thank you, TJ's!)  I know you know what I mean! :)

Sometimes life hands us lemons, and I want to go to pitching practice with them. Sometimes we lose our center, and need a gentle reminder to see the joy around us.  Some days we put the camera away, and somehow get what we need...a new lens on life!

The Finding Joy blog is just what I needed today to remind me of how to see the most precious times and treasures in life:

10 Ways to Start Seeing the Little Things in Life.
{ This post is dedicated to all the outta-this-world-moms out there who have little babies, big babies, a daily planner, and a full life chock full of LOVE!  Blessings, Dawn }

Baby Love, Newborn Photography, Vancouver, WA

Newborn Photography .  Vancouver, Washington

Life is doesn't get any better than meeting babies! (I love my wonderful little ones, families, and couples too...you know I do!)  This time was wonderfully special...my first newborn session! Life is so precious. And when you greet a newborn, or any little one, life just seems so fragile and sweet.  I thank God for the sweeter, simpler moments in life. Thank you, baby Coraline, for reminding me of what I love.

'tis the season - gratitude with love

I am grateful for the love in my life
Trees that surround me
Pets who adore me
Friends who get me
I am grateful for my health
My Love who reflects the light in me
My child who is compassionate, strong, and joyful
I am grateful for those who believe in me
A God who accepts me
Angels who watch over me
I am grateful.
Love, Dawn

Rock the Shot Contest - Something Orange: Photographer, Vancouver, WA

Here is my submission for the Rock the Shot contest! Theme: Something Orange  www.rocktheshotforum.com

This is my very first online contest!

I am sharing this capture because it's the one I love! I hope you find joy from it too.  As Maddy was dancing around in the grasses, I found her glowing and in her element. Maddy is all about nature, and as I edited this I thought about this quote...it captures her spirit and creative self!
I used YSA's Fade Out Light in Lightroom 4 to achieve the muted tones, and added text in Photoshop CS6...enjoy!
Feeling inspired and grateful for today!

Love, Dawn

Do you have the following qualities?

  1. Self-confidence
  2. Positive Attitude
  3. Have an artful eye for fashion and pride yourself on your sense of personal style
  4. Comfortable in front of the camera
If you think you're the Rep I'm looking for, please click on the "Senior Rep Tab" (above), and follow the directions given. Then shoot an email in my direction to: dawnhcaldwell@me.com.  If you have any questions, please call 360.601.3003.
Ideally, there will find one girl and one boy from each high school, however this may be adjusted based on applications received.  Thanks! :)

Today I notice that I feel more busy and stressed. It's the holidays, I'm getting remarried in 2 weeks, and I feel just a bit more sensitive today! So I've borrowed some inspiration from Whole Soul by Dr. Angela.

I found this image to be so simple, yet profound. I love that there is solitude and peace by just looking a this handmade, carved wood piece. I can image its forest scent and smooth earthy edges. It reminds me that we can be in this world, but not of it. We can find our own solitude, our own precious heaven by being still, grateful and by noticing that only the love is real.

Today I notice all the love, light, and magic around. I feel less stressed because I notice the love, the humor, and the small still voice inside that says everything will be okay.  I am truly grateful.
